CXFLorence Student Place has become a symbolic element of the Careggi university area.
On a podium which constitutes the unitary base, stands a tower, 45 meters high, one of the tallest buildings in Florence. A pedestrian square is in the center. From the building you can enjoy an extraordinary view of the landscape, both towards the city with the Dome in the center, and towards the hills and the surrounding greenery.
The architectural project focused above all on creating bright rooms open to this landscape. The main characterization of this building and its architecture is represented by a simple and rigorous scheme that enhances the role of these large windows. The singularity is given by the bow windows that characterize the internal space of each room and, conversely, create a dynamic dystonia, even in the severe and rigorous design of the facades. A typical window that also becomes the furnishing object of the room itself, attentive to the living conditions of those who live there, articulated in such a way as to create support structures for books, objects and ornaments dear to the student.
The tower is covered with a mosaic of glass tiles, dear to the tradition of Italian architecture.
The common services are on the ground floor and on the first floor and finally, in the terminal of the tower on the 14th floor, a loggia opens onto the landscape for uses useful for the outdoor life of the building and the students.
